Under general direction and utilizing a thorough understanding of purchasing, materials management and planning principles, establishes and manages sources of supply for procuring materials, equipment and services. Primary role is to ensure that Materials and Services arrive on time, at standard cost or better, and at the quality levels required, in accordance with company objectives.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for complete purchase order cycle management for assigned commodities, including:
Quotations-including review of supplier terms and conditions
P.O. Administration-Creation, transmittals, confirmation and delivery
Communication-including informing internal parties of P.O. and delivery status
Remediation-Expediting and maintaining accurate delivery dates on P.O.’s
Establishes new and alternate sources of supply to meet existing requirements
Awards purchase orders to suppliers on the basis of price, performance, service, terms, etc. Evaluates the technical, management and financial capabilities of suppliers as required to minimize company risk
Initiates setup and approval of supplier in ERP, Accounting and Quality systems
Initiates and negotiates supply chain agreements where appropriate (beyond standard Purchase Order Terms and Conditions)
Works with Planning to create a robust materials plan in support of the overall Business Plan.
Maintains periodic communication with key suppliers to avoid surprises (such as delayed deliveries and obsolescence), particularly with long-lead and sole- or single-sourced materials and services.
Predicts potential areas of supply chain interruptions and responds proactively, and communicates to interested parties
Participates in new product introduction team to assure targets are met.
Supply chain optimization:
Recommends products to be considered for volume, Kanban and VMI, etc. where appropriate.
Contacts suppliers and attends trade shows to obtain information on new products and methods to reduce operating and material costs as well as cycle time.
Participates in Material Review Board (MRB) process, including returns to vendor (DSM’s). Ensures resolution is prompt. Negotiates settlement with suppliers on rejected or damaged materials, including repair and remediation.
Creates and reviews supplier metrics and works with supplier base to maintain the required delivery and quality levels. Participates in periodic supplier reviews.
Manages ECNs as they pertain to purchase part status.
Must gain a good working knowledge of company’s processes, business systems and especially its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Arena and Bluedata (employee will be trained). For example, must know how to assess real requirements against demand, understand inventory levels and commitments, BOM usage and transaction history.
Provides interface between suppliers and other departments.
Performs other duties as required.
Education: Bachelors degree in Business or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in volume purchasing in a manufacturing environment, utilizing both domestic and international suppliers, including CM’s. ERP experience required. Experience in implementing or transitioning ERP systems preferred, preferably with NetSuite.
Skills/Technical Requirements: Computer literate, including Word and Excel in a Windows environment. Strong oral and written communication skills; basic math skills. Must be detail oriented with high level of accuracy. Ability to maintain impartial and ethical relationships with suppliers in line with Company policy.
Walking, sitting, standing. Able to sit at computer terminal for prolonged period. Heavy keyboard use.

Electrical Engineer I
Perform electronics engineering development and sustaining tasks under direction of senior team members and Management. Tasks including root-cause analysis, experimentation and implementation of both internal and external issues. These may include field, in-house production, and end of life (EOL) component replacement. In addition, perform compliance testing tasks for certifying new features for current and new products. Testing both in-house and at test labs may be required for any product.
Sustaining Engineering functions and responsibilities:
Root-cause analysis and resolve electronic functional or performance issues, diagnose the problems, develop and implement testing for solutions. Create and drive the documentation and approvals needed.
Resolve component replacement issues arising from EOL or last time buy (LTB) announcements. Including scoping the replacement for form-fit-function drop-in replacement, functionally but not footprint compatible, or incompatible in functionality, power input, footprint or otherwise.
Make design changes, or create new designs, due to component replacement issues by implementing, generating approvals, cpmpletion of documentation such as schematics, layout, bills of material (BOM’s) and engineering change orders (ECO’s).
Collaborate and instruct Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service, Customers, Materials Planning and others to resolve problems and put solutions into production.
New Product Development (NPD) Engineering functions and responsibilities:
Complete tasks supporting development of hardware electronic functional or performance problems in existing products, reproduce and diagnose the problems, develop and implement testing solutions and create and drive the documentation and approvals needed.
Collaborate and instruct Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service, Customers, Materials Planning and others to implement and release new product to the production
Work with Sr EE design engineer and software engineers to trouble-shoot hardware issues during the design phase of a new product
Compliance Testing functions and responsibilities:
Testing of new and existing products to certify conformance to industry standards identified by the Product Manager.
Schedule test times with certification labs. Create, obtain, store and manage test results and certifications.
Identify and obtain equipment needed for testing, whether purchased or rented.
Test and self-certify as much as possible in-house to ensure that the testing will pass at the test lab while minimizing compliance test cost and design iterations.
Generate complete and accurate test reports for in-house testing and obtain final, formal test reports for test lab testing.
Establish and maintain searchable electronic storage that is accessible to Engineering and Product Management
Education: B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Experience: 2 years in electronics design and/or sustaining, two plus years with component engineering and compliance testing desirable. Knowledge of RS232/422, I2C, SPI interfaces and GPIO is required. 10/100/1000 Mb Ethernet physical layer, POE, LVDS, DDR4, Step motor motion control, rotary encoders. Mechatronic products development a plus.
Strong ability to communicate well and build strong working relationships with people in many parts of the organization, at many levels, as well as with component suppliers, test houses and customers.
Proven experience in getting and giving information with others as well as obtaining commitment to action.
Excellent ability to take initiative while producing on time and high-quality results.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Knowledge in digital, analog, video processing, power supply and conditioning and other aspects of electrical engineering.
Knowledge of current hardware and software technologies, components and design tools.
Knowledge of and ability to use, test equipment and tools to fabricate and test electrical assemblies.
Working knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements relevant to electrical aspects of products including FCC, CE, NEMA TS-2, various MIL-STDs and others.
Strong desire to research and learn new tools and technologies
Occasionally interface and direct Lab Technicians and Manufacturing team members.
Office, Engineering lab and commercial test lab environment. Periods of sitting at a computer terminal and using a keyboard. Collecting, transporting, setting up, tearing down and using lab equipment, instrumentation, computers and camera products.
Occasional need to lift equipment and products up to 30 lbs.
