Cameras for Low Light Level Applications
Useable images in low light level conditions can be obtained by controlling the integration period of the sensor, employing dual-gain circuitry, or using specialized sensors.
Controlling the integration period provides a great deal of sensitivity, but you lose real-time motion. Cohu cameras with adjustable integration include models 1100, 1200, 4900, 6100, 7700.
Using dual gain circuitry allows you to maintain full motion video in low light, but with increased noise level. The Cohu 2700 Series can produce useable (full) video at 0.0012 lux and lower.
For ultraviolet imaging applications, most Cohu cameras can be purchased with UV-enabled imagers. These include models 1100, 2600, 2900, 3600 (color), 4900, 7700, and 7900.
Another Cohu camera for low light level imaging is the Model 5900, a thermal imaging camera, designed for security and surveillance applications.
